Film work often demands strange objects. Some must look dangerous. Some must look valuable. Others simply need to convince the camera for long enough that the audience never questions them.
This prop material was created for close-up filming, stage work and practical production use, where realism matters but the real thing is neither required nor appropriate.
A convincing illusion is sometimes safer than the truth.
The Mystery
Cinema has always relied upon deception. The audience believes what the camera shows, while the reality often consists of clever craftsmanship, careful lighting and convincing props. The most successful illusion is the one nobody notices.
