Quatermain's Journal
There are truths a man spends his life seeking, and others he hesitates to uncover even when they are placed directly before him.
Quatermain's Temptation contains a single concealed message: perhaps a truth, a warning, a fragment of wisdom or a thought intended to arrive at precisely the moment it is needed.
The message is rolled within the bottle and protected by a wax seal. Its owner must choose whether to preserve the object and its mystery or break the seal and discover what has been waiting inside.
The Temptation
Once the bottle has been opened, the uncertainty is gone. The message becomes known, but the original seal can never remain entirely as it was.
Left unopened, the bottle holds every possible message. Opened, it holds only one.
That choice is the true purpose of the curiosity. The object asks whether knowledge is always worth the price of mystery—and whether the owner possesses the patience to leave an unanswered question untouched.
The Concealed Message
Each bottle contains a Quatermain-inspired observation, truth or piece of wisdom. The message is deliberately concealed and will not be identified before the seal is broken.
Some owners may open their bottle immediately. Others may wait for a significant day, a difficult decision or the moment when curiosity finally outweighs restraint.
Quatermain Field Observation
Most men claim they seek the truth. Place it behind a seal, however, and one soon discovers whether they desire truth—or merely the comfort of knowing it remains available.
